'Nighttime Eyes' first began as a concept track. The idea was the sound of someone walking through the city at night, complete with steam train sounds and people talking in the background, howling wind and rain. What it developed into is more of a stranger being taken in by the underworld of the night. The confusion of being out of your element and letting go-putting yourself at risk. There's some temptation and carnal nature to what happens after dark.
lyrics
It's getting dark sun's going down can't find my way lost in this town
And as the night ticks slowly by I see my prey you are mine
I like control don't make a move I see the shadows on the moon
This shade of winter never ends once a stranger now a friend
I'm feeling fine how bout you this isn't love it's something new
To play the part a victim's game I take a taste you turn away
Now listen close no one in sight I fill your void night after night
Is this a game you like to play I break the rules that you obey
Put on your Nighttime Eyes
I'm running through your veins
Scared of what you'll find
You won't be the same
It's getting late somewhat confused I'm just a stranger with a view
Lights going out must be last call I push you up against the wall
Now take your time turn around shut your mouth don't make a sound
Is this a game you like to play I break the rules that you obey
Have I lost my faith in you again
Have I lost my pride in you my friend
Have I lost everything
Am I a man too scarred to clean
Now you say
I don't care about you

After I discovered GUNSHIP with UNICORN, I went through all their material in a rush. They're whole discography is great, and I think this is the greatest. This album haunts me. I can't listen to it once. Even if I turn it off, I still hear it echoing in the back of my mind. GUNSHIP has a mastery of the bridge that reaches the level of mastery in this album that's just unrivaled. If you get only one album from GUNSHIP, get this one. Mailanka
A fun single from Android Automatic. "City Heat" is explosive disco with an outrun pace, an anthemic action tone, and guitar synth accents, including a rapid-fire solo near the middle of the track. It's dangerous while driving. "Last Kiss" is a gentler, slower track whose percussive claps feel so distant that they sound like snapping fingers. The thing that really grabs me about "Last Kiss" is the higher-pitched synth line, which along with the astral chords gives the track a very dreamy feel. kmxexii
A deep synthwave trip into a blighted neon dystopia where androids and doomsday cults wreak havoc. Flashy, imaginative work from James Kent. Bandcamp New & Notable May 5, 2016
